ISP NY 186
– Telecommunications services purchased, used or sold by ISPs to provide Internet access are no longer subject to the excise tax imposed by NY Tax Law §186-e as of November 1, 2005.
IRS Notice 2006-50
– The Internal Revenue Service has agreed to stop collecting the federal excise tax assessed on long-distance telephone calls.
IFTA Amendment
- Effective June 30, 2008, retail sales tax may not be imposed on the sale of telecommunications used to provide Internet access.
